Ruth Culham - Also known as The Trait Lady - will be presenting a keynote session and a small group session on Thursday.



                                                                                

 

                                       

Have breakfast Friday morning with Andrea! Andrea Davis Pinkney is the New York Times bestselling and award-winning author of more than thirty books for children and young adults, including picture books, novels, works of historical fiction and nonfiction.


Linda Dorn is a Professor of Reading Education at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where she coordinates the Educational Specialist, Doctoral, and Graduate Certificate in Reading programs. She is the founder and lead trainer for the Partnerships in Comprehensive Literacy Model and the Comprehensive Intervention Model. Linda will be presenting a Literacy Luncheon on Thursday.
          

 

Timothy N. Odegard is a Cognitive Psychologist with expertise in learning and memory.  His postdoctoral work included clinical training in multisensory instruction for individuals with dyslexia. He will address "An Overview of Developmental Dyslexia and Specific Reading Disability."

 

Meet Brenda Overturf--a teacher, writer, and speaker who is a staunch believer in the power of words. Brenda combines research and practice to implement strategic, intentional vocabulary instruction designed to increase student learning. And Brenda is sure vocabulary development should be fun! Brenda will be presenting two ADE-sponsored sessions on Thursday.

 

 

Lydia Stack comes to us from California, where she is an English Language Teacher Educator who provides teacher training on Teaching English to Young Learners (K-12). A former President of TESOL, she is presenting a luncheon and a small group session. 

 

ARA's ADMINISTRATOR IN READING    

 

Tracie Luttrell, ARA's Administrator in Reading recipient, will be presenting "When You KNOW Better, You DO Better." 

Ms Luttrell devised a plan to help students with dyslexia. She trained her staff, started a summer program, and went on to become a dyslexia assessor. She has changed the world of reading for the students in the Flippin School District, according to those who nominated her.
