Want to Feature Your Students?
Ron Boren will be singing a song he wrote especially for the
ARA Conference. He is seeking images of Arkansas students to put in a
video that will accompany his song, which will be presented at the First
General Session.
If you would like to send images (with parental permission,
of course) of your students for him to use, send them to him at boren2tch@aol.com.

Exemplary Reading Program
Seeking Nominations

The Exemplary Reading Program Award recognizes
outstanding reading and language arts programs at all grade levels
(elementary, middle, and high school). Its purpose is to call the
public's attention to outstanding programs in schools throughout Canada
and the United States. Each participating state and province can choose
one winning school a year.
This year's winner from Arkansas was Harp Elementary
School, Springdale. Educators from that school will be
presenting at this year's conference.
All public, private, and parochial schools in the United
States and Canada are eligible for the award, but at least one faculty
or staff member of that school must be a current IRA member.
The deadline is November 1. Headquarters will then
forward applications to the state/provincial Exemplary Reading Program
Award Committees for review.
For more information contact Julie Huskey, ARA's
Exemplary Reading Program Chair at 870 974-4474 or email Julie@arareading.org.
